The myth of the eight-hour sleep

How many times have you drifted off to sleep easily then woken up at 2am wide awake.  Then you lie there annoyed at yourself because you’re not going to get you eight hours sleep.

I saw this interesting article on the BBC website which says “A growing body of evidence from both science and history suggests that the eight-hour sleep may be unnatural.”  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16964783

Research has found that in the past people had two sleeps and would often talk to each other between these sleeps.  By the 1920s the idea of a first and second sleep had receded entirely from our social consciousness.

life must go one - in the meantime make sure it’s a good life – be kind to you, your mind and body.

Yoghurt

The last three months have been like an emotional roller coaster.  Either just OK or very low.  I can’t remember the last time I laughed or really smiled.

The anti-depressant drugs mean my weight has ballooned which is terrifying for me as, whatever else has been going on in ly life, I have been able to control my weight.  Not necessarily in a healthy way – with starving myself and laxatives playing a big role.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been eating fat free yoghurt – the bloating in my stomach has certainly gone down.  Is it wishful thinking?  Still far too large for my height but I will not be beaten.
